IAG - A Potted History

Updated: Feb 19

Dr David Johnson, landscape archaeologist, author and honorary president of IAG, dug into the history of the group at its February meeting.

Dr Johnson told the story of some of the most significant projects the group has carried out since its foundation in 1996.

Excavations of prehistoric settlements at Kingsdale Head and the Ribblehead navvy complex were two of the projects he recalled, along with an investigation into a Romano-British site near Ingleton, the Sow Kiln project and a mysterious chapel site at Malham Tarn.

Reports, photos, blogs and archive material from these and other IAG projects - many of which were led by Dr Johnson - are available on this website. Visit the publications section.
